Six Months in, My first Blog
So I have been in Korea for six months and I realized that I have A) hardly taken any pictures and B) already forgotten a lot of my journey. I have been having the best time here in Seoul. But my friend Jennifer is the one that always remembers our interesting encounters. Its not that I am to drunk too remember as, I am sure a lot of you are thinking. It is just the fact that my memory is not that great. I guess I have too much knowledge stored up. LOL. I met this girl named Cititia and she is also a teacher here in Korea. She has been documenting everything she has done here in Korea on a webpage. I was so jealous when I saw all of her memories are still intact and all of her friends were able to see what she has been up to in Korea. Thats when I decided I should join blogspot. So this is my attempt to keep a good record of my life in Korea. Hopefully my friends and family will be interested and follow my journey. I will try to keep it as clean as possible, but I really want my life on here so I will be honest.
The background on me in Korea. I came to Korea on November 1st of 2005. My brother is here teaching English also, so I was not alone, and I was not afraid. I used to see my brother a few times a week, and it was really fun. But then him and his girlfriend broke up and he became a man whore. Hahaha. I am kinda joking and Kinda serious. But I am really busy too. I have made one true blue great friend, that is a "Foreigner"(Koreans call us Waygooks) her name is Jennifer (Jennipul is the Korean pronounciation). She is from Canada and she is done in September, but I am trying to convince her to stay until I am finished in November. I have made one great Korean friend also. His name is Sok Hyun, aka Martin. He has been my life saver a few times and he is actually a lot of fun to hang out with. Of course I have made other friends here too, but they are more for passing time with. Jennifer and Sok Hyun I will remember forever. They are my strength here. They keep me from feeling homesick and alone. I am also dating a Korean guy. Since I have come to Korea, I have noticed that Korean men are really attractive. Maybe its because the "foreigner" men are really unattractive. Who knows? Anyways, I have gone on lots of dates. Some good and some bad, some really really bad. But now I am dating someone. We are not exclusive, but we don't discuss other guys or girls cause we both really like each other. Neither of us want to be committed right now. He is a doctor and he is actually hilarious. Maybe the funniest person I have ever met. He is not what I could call a kind person. Actually I would call him kinda mean, but he makes me laugh and he has done some really sweet things for me. For example, he knows I love Korean movies, so he downloaded a bunch of them with English subtitles and then burned them for me on DVDs. But one movie, he couldn't find Englsih subtitles, so he wrote them himself. That must have taken HOURS!!!!!!!!!
I always get asked if I am Russian. Now this kinda offends me slightly, because Russians are in Korea for two reasons, 1) They are prostitutes 2) They are models. Now I don't have low self esteem or anything, but I am 100% sure they are not thinking I am a model. Plus its usually bussiness men and taxi drivers that ask me. I don't dress provocatively either!!!! So I guess I walk around Korea and everyone thinks I am a Russian whore. Maybe its the blonde hair, but still, I don't want to look Russian.
Aaaahhhhh~ I didn't say what I am doing here. I am a Kindergarten teacher. I teacher 6 year olds English, math, science, art and grammar. They are really adorable, and most of them are smart. I just got a new class in March. My last Kindergarten was smarter, but oh well. My new class is a challenge because, they had a rough start with their last teacher. But they are coming along really well. I will talk about them a lot more later.
Yes, I know my grammar is not perfect. I am not going to proof read these, because honestly I don't have the time. Plus, I do enough proof reading at my job, or should I say decoding.
